The purpose of the South Dakota Standing Proud Program is to recognize individuals, units, and organizations who, by superior performance or by service of a meritorious nature, make a major contribution to the well being of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association and the effectiveness of the South Dakota National Guard. This program was enacted in 1995 to further the goals of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association in its efforts to promote adequate national and state security and to promote the welfare and professionalism of all enlisted members of the South Dakota National Guard.
